Unleavened Bread Recipes


"Seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. On the first day you shall remove leaven out of your houses, for if anyone eats what is leavened, from the first day until the seventh day, that person shall be cut off from Israel (Ex 12:15).”


Cornmeal Caraway Crackers

Ingredients

1 1/2 c flour
1/2 c corn meal
1 1/2 t salt
1/2 c shortening
1/2 t caraway seed
1/2 c sour cream
2 T cold water
coarse salt (opt)

Directions

Combine flour, corn meal, seeds and salt. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Combine cream and water and stir into dry ingredients until moistened. Roll out on a lightly floured surface to 1/16" thickness. Cut with a 3" round cookie cutter. Pinch circle to make a bow tie shape. Sprinkle lightly with coarse salt. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 325ºF for 14 minutes.
